Machiavelli gives us a unique work, in which the high style of Humanism and the low style of popular heritage blend perfectly.

Such a successful operation that it is indeed considered “perfect,” and rightfully regarded as a classic of our literature.

Despite its light material, Machiavelli hides in his words a harsh denunciation of the hypocrisy of the Renaissance church and questions family values, provoking a bitter laughter in the spectator that prompts reflection.

An homage to Machiavelli’s text, or rather, “freely adapted from,” through that great game known as Commedia dell’Arte.
