Veneto is a region characterized by numerous different natural environments that give rise to various types of habitats which in turn host an incredible and fascinating biodiversity in many ways. To date, this biodiversity has been documented and thus communicated primarily regarding animal species, which are more eye-catching and interesting to the general public. This documentary project, born from an idea of the Director of the UO Parks and Biodiversity of the Veneto Region Dr. Mauro De Osti and the Director of the Regional Natural Park of the Dolomites d’Ampezzo Dr. Michele Da Pozzo who is the head of it, aims to raise awareness, with the right amount of information and the necessary caution that the principles of conservation impose upon us, about the regional floral species identified as “special” because rare, endemic, or located at the edge of their distribution area. The images shot by filmmaker Marco Omodei Salè and the scientific coordination handled by the Director of the Regional Natural Park of the Dolomites d’Ampezzo Michele Da Pozzo will accompany us on this fascinating journey which currently includes the Dolomites d’Ampezzo and those of Belluno. This has led to the creation of a very engaging documentary divided into three episodes for each of the two mountain groups, both UNESCO heritage sites, corresponding to the two protected areas of the Regional Natural Park of the Dolomites d’Ampezzo and the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. The work is unique in its kind and represents a scientific and educational document of extreme relevance and great interest.
