Presentation of the book “Terremoto 150 – The Earthquake of June 29, 1873 in Alpago and Belluno”: the Municipality of Alpago invites the citizens.

The Municipality of Alpago organizes the presentation of the book “Terremoto150. The earthquake of June 29 1873 of Alpago and Belluno”, published by the municipality itself. The event will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 8:45 p.m. in the Sala Placido Fabris, Via Roma – Pieve, n.54, Pieve d’Alpago.
The volume represents the editorial synthesis of the project “Terremoto150”, promoted between 2023 and early 2024, by the Municipality of Alpago with the aim of commemoration and environmental awareness. The initiative was made possible thanks to a financial contribution from the Veneto Region – from the then Department for the Environment, Climate, Civil Protection, and Hydrogeological Risk. Thanks to this support, between 2023 and early 2024, numerous activities aimed at the citizenry were promoted, including public meetings, educational events, and the production of a documentary video. The initiatives allowed for a deeper understanding of particularly current topics, such as the relationship between environmental sustainability and seismic risk, as well as the importance of designing resilient buildings and infrastructure.

During the presentation of the volume, the authors of the contributions included in the publication will intervene. The talks will address the theme of the earthquake of June 29, 1873 from different perspectives, with contributions of a historical, geological, and scientific nature. Aspects related to the memory of the territory and its representation over time will also be explored, through iconographic sources and cultural testimonies.

The evening will open with institutional greetings from the Municipal Administration and will be moderated by Alessandro De Nardi, delegated councilor for culture.
