Fisorchestra “G. Rossini”
July at the Village, XXXVI edition of the Concerts in the Villa and Courtyards.
Fourth and final concert of “July in the Village” 2025, XXXVI Edition of Concerts in Villa and in the Courts, 72nd Season of the Cultural Circle Bellunese.
To greet the audience, the “Gioacchino Rossini” Fisorchestra of Santa Giustina, conducted by maestros Ernesto and Katia Bellus, who present “The Magic of the Accordion,” an instrument not only much loved but also capable of surprising musical virtuosity. And the concert will be yet another proof of this, thanks to the direction of two renowned “conductors.” In detail, the “G. Rossini” Fisorchestra is an orchestra that was founded in the mid 1970s.
It consists of about fifteen accordionists accompanied by winds, keyboards, drums, and percussion. Completing the ensemble are a tenor and a soprano. It has performed numerous concerts and tours in Italy, Europe, North and South America, receiving prestigious recognition everywhere.
It has also participated in international-level competitions, with excellent results. In the 1980s it was awarded the prestigious Ambrogino d’Oro in Milan. It has appeared on the television programs “Maurizio Costanzo Show” and “Uno Mattina.”
It has performed in St. Peter’s Square in Rome in the presence of John Paul II.
Since 1996, it has been organizing the “International Accordion Festival” in the Province of Belluno, hosting the best soloists, groups, and orchestras from the national and international scene. In September 2002, it successfully organized the “52nd World Accordion Trophy” in Belluno, with the participation of 40 competitors from 15 countries.
It was a guest of honor at the PIF – International Competition of Castelfidardo (Ancona). The Fisorchestra was founded by M° Ernesto Bellus, who has dedicated himself with infinite passion to music for over 50 years, assisted in artistic direction by his daughter Katia.
The orchestra’s repertoire draws from various musical periods, from Baroque to Romantic, from classical symphonic-operatic to modern-light.
A graduate in accordion from the Lanaro Academy in Rome and in “Choral Music and Choir Direction” from the Conservatory of Padua, Ernesto Bellus is the director and founder of the “G. Rossini” Academy, a music school operating in various locations in the Province of Belluno.
He has been a member of the Board of Directors of ANIF – National Association of Accordion Teachers and has promoted the inclusion of the accordion as a study instrument in conservatories; he studied orchestral conducting with M° Ludmil Descev and has conducted numerous groups, including the Sofia Chamber Orchestra.
A graduate in piano under the guidance of M° Sergio Chiereghin at the Pollini Conservatory of Padua, Katia Bellus has taught piano for twenty-five years at the Rossini Academy in Belluno.
She has participated in numerous piano masterclasses and has prepared many students who placed first in international piano competitions. In 2023 one of her students won the 34th edition of the “Premio Venezia” Piano Competition.
She was an instrumentalist of the G. Rossini Fisorchestra for over 20 years.
