Sport e Montagna tra Tradizione e Innovazione

4 July @ 0:00 - 31 August @ 0:00

Cortina d’Ampezzo. The two Olympics: sports, mountains, and Olympic future on display in Longarone

The exhibition “Sports and mountains between tradition and innovation – Cortina d’Ampezzo. The two Olympics” is open to the public until August 31, 2025, hosted at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti and accessible for free every day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

An immersive journey through six thematic exhibition spaces, where multimedia installations, historical objects, archival videos, and sports memorabilia tell the story of the connection between the 1956 Winter Olympics and those of 2026. On display:

  • The Olympic torches of Cortina 1956 and Milan Cortina 2026

  • An original bobsled from the 1950s

  • Posters, models, projects, and historical photographs

  • The competition clothing of Roberto Zandonella, Olympic gold medalist in four-man bobsled in 1968 with Eugenio Monti

The path is enriched by newsreels and historical footage from the Istituto Luce, which convey the atmosphere of Cortina in the 1950s, filled with glamour, sports, and elite tourism.

Promoted by the Veneto Region, in collaboration with the Veneto Chamber System, the exhibition is developed by the Cortina Foundation with the support of Venicepromex, and curated by architect Ugo Soragni.

An initiative that celebrates the history of winter sports and involves citizens and territories in a cultural and symbolic journey towards Milan Cortina 2026.
