Mafie, donne e carcere

On Thursday, March 12, Scuole in Rete organizes a meeting with journalist Amalia De Simone titled: Mafias, Women, and Prison.

Amalia De Simone is a documentary videoreporter for Rai 3 (Mi manda Rai 3, The Human Factor, Filorosso Revolution). After working for ten years at Corriere della Sera, she collaborates with The Post Internazionale and Reuters and serves as an editorialist for Corriere del Mezzogiorno. In 2017 she was named Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by President Sergio Mattarella: “For her courageous commitment to denouncing criminal activities through complex journalistic investigations”. Rai has dedicated two programs to her professional work: Cose Nostre (Rai 1) and Nuovi Eroi (Rai 3). Swiss TV RSI has also dedicated an in-depth analysis to her.

She has won many journalism awards, including the Mariagrazia Cutuli, the Wangari Maathai, Investigative Journalism, and three recognitions in the Journalist of the Year Award, Rampino, Paone, and Civitas. She is the author of several essays, including MafiEuropa, on mafia infiltrations in various European states. She coordinated part of the editorial team for the investigative program REC on Rai 3 and produced reports for Linea Notte, La storia siamo noi, Crash, and other programs. She collaborated on the film by Ezio Bosso The Things That Remain and the Rai 1 special on Vasco Rossi The Perfect Storm. She has created the documentaries Caine and The Mother.
