Older Brother and Younger Brother, when they were ten and eight years old, in the seaside house where they went in the summer with their parents, watched a VHS video of them playing in the grass with their father. That night, watching themselves on video, they did not recognize each other. Like in the nineteenth-century legend of the changeling, children replaced in their cribs by fairies, the Brothers became convinced they were the replacements of those two children immortalized in the video.

Alongside the tale of the past, testimonies of a lost queer history emerge: the letters of poet Allen Ginsberg to Neal Cassady, a story by Austrian writer Annemarie Schwarzenbach, the film/poem Blue by Derek Jarman.

Thus, an emotional archive of queer bodies removed from time is formed, helping the two Brothers to piece together their own story: that of two dysphoric children in body and gender who, looking at themselves, did not recognize each other.

But if this present were the last night of the world is envisioned as the first project of a trilogy that explores childhood, video, and dysphoria.
