Lanterne in fil di ferro
The cost of the initiative is €45.00 per person, materials included.
The Isoipse Association, along with the Ethnographic Museum of the Dolomites and the support of the Folklore Group of Cesiomaggiore, is organizing an adult workshop titled “Wire Lanterns” on Sunday, May 18, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, led by teacher Monica Da Ronch from the Case Carlet Association.
In this workshop, which revisits the ancient artisan tradition of the farming communities in our area, simple works will be proposed using black (or raw) wire.
The material is extremely raw, and our grandparents used it to weave baskets for collecting eggs in the chicken coop, small baskets for fruits and vegetables from the gardens, and simple kitchen tools or household items in general. Inspired by these images, which are so distant from the modern utensils we find in our homes today, participants will be invited to create a lantern, perfect as a centerpiece when accompanied by floral decoration, and extremely evocative when hung outdoors with a candle illuminating it from within.
