I Castelli di Belluno e dintorni

5 April @ 0:00

Guided tour

The Civic Library of Belluno, in collaboration with the tour guide Marta Azzalini and the environmental guide Manolo Piat, presents the third edition of guided tours dedicated to the history of castles and towers that once stood in the Belluno area and the landscape of these places.
Built in different eras, they were the defensive strongholds of the territory that, in 1421, were almost all swept away by the Venetian order to demolish the castles in the area subjected to the dominion of the Serenissima. Sparse traces remain, along with some towers that have been transformed over the centuries or recently restored.

The second appointment moved to April 5 at 9:30 AM will feature a route that winds through the Castionese area, starting from Cet with the interesting church of Santa Lucia, to reach Castoi where an ancient tower still stands today, transformed into the bell tower of the church of San Martino. We will be in the Oltrepiave area, which clearly shows how the imprint of human activity has adapted and overlapped, without however obliterating it, the ancient action of the glacier that occupied and shaped the Valbelluna millennia ago. The backdrop formed by the Belluno Dolomites also offers numerous insights into understanding the evolution of the environment and landscape.
Meeting point: Enosteria Cet, Via Reiù
Route: 3 km
Duration: approximately 2.5 hours

The third visit, on Saturday, March 22, will take place in Soverzene to discover the ancient watchtower overlooking the Piave valley.

Reservation required by contacting the Civic Library of Belluno (tel. 0437 – 913303, email biblioteca@comune.belluno.it) or by visiting Palazzo Crepadona in Via Ripa 3.

Cost of €10 per person to be paid on the day of the visit to the guides, for a maximum of 40 participants.
