I Castelli di Belluno e dintorni

12 April @ 0:00

The Civic Library of Belluno, in collaboration with the tour guide Marta Azzalini and the environmental guide Manolo Piat, proposes the third edition of guided tours dedicated to the history of the castles and towers that stood in the Belluno area and the landscape of these places.
Built in different eras, they were the defensive bulwarks of the territory that, in 1421, were almost all swept away by the Venetian order to demolish the castles in the area subject to the dominion of the Serenissima. Scattered traces remain along with some towers that over the centuries have been transformed or have recently been restored.

The third visit, on Saturday, April 12, will take place in Soverzene, discovering the ancient watchtower dominating the Piave valley, recently restored by the Municipality, which can be reached via a beautiful scenic route in a totally mountainous and largely wooded area on the left bank of the Piave. The town itself is situated on a wide and long raised plateau a few dozen meters above the riverbed, protected by steep mountain walls cut into the Principal Dolomite and the formation that takes its name from Soverzene.
Meeting point: Central Parking Hydro Power Plant of Soverzene
Route: 2km
Duration: approximately 2.5 hours

Reservation required by contacting the Civic Library of Belluno (tel. 0437 – 913303, email biblioteca@comune.belluno.it) or by visiting Palazzo Crepadona in Via Ripa 3.

Cost of € 10 per person to be paid on the day of the visit to the guides for a maximum of 40 participants.
