Agosto con Centro Astronomico di Arson

26 August @ 0:00

Entrance €5, free for members and children up to 11 years old.

After noting that the environmental conditions on the other planets of the solar system are unsuitable for hosting extraterrestrial life, scientists’ interest has shifted to planets orbiting other stars, more or less distant from us.

Since 1988, about 6000 exoplanets have been discovered, some of which are very similar to Earth and orbit at the right distance around their star to have the appropriate temperature that allows the existence of liquid water, a condition deemed necessary for life.

Will it be possible to prove that life has truly developed on them? And when? More generally, what is the current state of the search for life beyond Earth, in the solar system and within the Galaxy? And what kind of life can we expect to find? Similar to ours, or radically different?

After the conference, if the weather is good, it will be possible to observe the deep sky, both directly with the 64 cm telescope and through projection on a screen, including with an electronic sensor and a 30 cm camera: open and globular clusters, the Ring Nebula in Lyra, the diffuse Nebulae in Sagittarius and Serpens, the Veil Nebula in Cygnus.

Observation of beautiful Saturn can also begin, although with its rings somewhat tilted.
