Seminario Vescovile di Feltre

Seminario Vescovile di Feltre

Relive the youth of Blessed Pope Luciani in the very place where he studied.

The Episcopal Seminary of Feltre is a place steeped in history. Founded in 1593 by Bishop Jacopo Rovellio, it originally followed Jesuit educational principles. In 1811, it became a diocesan gymnasium open also to lay students, and in 1909 it was transformed into a minor seminary with a gymnasium, while the major seminary in Belluno housed the high school and theology courses.

Among the students who walked these halls was a future pope: Albino Luciani. He studied here for five years, from 1923 to 1928 – years that surely helped shape his thinking and his spirit.

Just imagine: a future pontiff, unaware of the destiny that awaited him, walking through these corridors, studying in these classrooms… It’s truly moving to stand in such a special place.

The seminary can be visited by appointment and also offers various accommodation options.
