Scavi Archeologici di Curago e Pian de la Gnela

Archaeological sites at an altitude of 900 meters in the area of Staol di Curago and Pian de la Gnela, along the slopes of Mount Dolada. The artifacts of great relevance and artistic value are partially preserved today at the Natural History Museum of Chies d’Alpago, such as the bronze or glass cinerary urns with their respective furnishings made up of fibulae and coins found in the necropolis of Staol, dating from the 1st to the 4th century AD.
At the site of Pian de la Gnela, a spectacular decorated bronze situla dating back to the 6th century BC was uncovered, a unique cinerary urn that depicts a procession of characters culminating at the base with erotic scenes and a birthing scene that has no parallels in any artifacts of this type.
Some small glass paste horses were also found, as well as elements of a necklace made of amber and a bronze scepter. Currently, these artifacts are not on display as they await the opportunity to be enhanced in the most suitable way. The archaeological site is open all year round.
