Leone fortress at Cima Campo

The fort is an enormous war fortification, build between 1906 and 1912 on a plain among the hill in the locaility of Cima Campo.

From here it was possible to domain the mule tracks that connected the Valsugana with the plateau of the Sette Comuni.
This building was thought to supervise this important communications routes. Despite its enormous defensive, the fort was conquer by the Austrian in 1917 and here began its’ decline: indeed it was in part demolished by the Austrian and then in the fascist period.
Forte Leone preserves an incredible appeal: over the time seems to have stopped, in order to remeber that epical times in which, on the slopes of the small plateau, the destinity of the two nations was written: Italy and Austria.
