SUMMARY:Festa de San Dordi '25
DESCRIPTION:The patron saint is Saint George\, a soldier from Cappadocia who was martyred under Diocletian in 303. He is celebrated on April 23.The Vow\, which gave rise to the festival and has historical significance for the town\, dates back to the Plague of 1631. In that year\, the epidemic described by Manzoni had reached Sorriva\, claiming many victims\, so much so that the town was quarantined and surrounded by guards. The dead\, exhumed\, were buried in designated graves (in the Pian dei mort area)\, as recalled by the parish priest Don Francesco Todeschi. The doctor Zaccaria del Pozzo took action to have everything that could spread the contagion burned. \nThus\, the population\, through the two family heads Tomio and Baldassarre De Cia\, turned to Saint George\, promising to sanctify the commanded holidays\, fast on the vigils\, and lead a truly Christian life forever. However\, such promises proved to be too burdensome from the outset\, and it was decided to commutate the vow by perpetually sanctifying the feast of Saint George (on April 23) and offering the church a painted leather altar frontal. Additionally\, a procession and the distribution of bean soup to the town’s poor were added. \nEven today\, this particular tradition is respected: the Mass of the Vow is celebrated on April 23\, while the beans are collected from house to house\, then prepared and cooked\, to make the soup that is distributed the Sunday following the feast of the saint. On that day\, a procession takes place with the cappati (figures dressed as members of the dissolved Archconfraternity of the Most Holy Sacrament) who carry crosses\, torches\, and the banner. \nA Mass of suffrage is then celebrated with the blessing of the soup\, prepared each year by three different families\, which is then distributed by the conscripts (twenty-year-olds of the year) to all those present in the town. Alongside all this\, an animated festival takes place\, characterized by a distinctly gastronomic and folkloric flavor. \n \nFood and wine stand and the unmissable San Dordi procession with the blessing of the “San Dordi soup”

DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation as well as the 80th anniversary of the tragic events that occurred at Bosco delle Castagne (March 10\, 1945) and Piazza dei Martiri (March 17\, 1945) in Belluno\, Anpi Belluno\, Isbrec\, and the Tina Merlin Cultural Association are organizing the presentation of the book by Toni Sirena\, Si fa presto a dire spia \nThere is the paid informant\, those who speak under torture\, those who yield to threats or fear. Those who are parachuted behind enemy lines to carry out sabotage or gather information. Those who\, once captured\, to save their skin\, choose to play a double game and sometimes a triple one. And there are also those who\, accused of being a spy\, are killed after the war ends to save others. \nThis book\, blending history and narrative\, reconstructs a true story that took place during the Resistance between 1944 and 1945 in the operational Zone of the Prealps\, the Alpenvorland O.Z.\, which became a province of the Reich. The book sheds light on some unresolved issues: how the Gestapo was able to trace the leadership of the Resistance\, arresting all members of the Cln of Bolzano and the regional Cln of Veneto; how the American agent Steve Hall was captured in Cortina and why he was later assassinated in Bolzano; who the mysterious and fascinating Isabel de Obligado really was and what role she played in the Belluno area; what the internal conflicts within the repressive apparatus of the SS were; for what real reason Cesare Caramalli\, “Tell”\, a partisan of the Garibaldi Brigade Calvi operating in Cadore\, was killed by Americans in May 1945.

DESCRIPTION: Jolly race downhill with push carts. \nThe Cart Race \, also known as the Carting Race\, is a jovial competition that  takes place every year in the square of Castion.In this spirit\, it has been conceived and should  be interpreted by the participants.
