DESCRIPTION:The summer appointment with great music returns to Borgo Valbelluna. \nThe sixth edition of Concerts in the Village is underway\, with a proposal of three musical events in the territory of Borgo Valbelluna. \nThe event begins on Friday\, July 31 in the garden of Palazzo Francescon in Mel with the Cuerdas Trio\, an ensemble that offers a repertoire of traditional Central American music with typical instruments (charango\, cuatro\, setar) and a classical approach. The repertoire combines rearranged folk songs for trio and original music inspired by Andean tradition. Their debut\, “Gentile”\, from 2025 was included in the best debuts of the year by Radio3\, and the Cuerdas have performed throughout Italy receiving excellent acclaim. \nContinuing on Thursday\, August 6 in the evocative atmosphere of the Castello di Zumelle where Krano\, a singer-songwriter who gained popularity by composing the soundtrack for the film Le Città di Pianura\, winner of 8 David di Donatello awards\, including for best song with the track “Ti”\, will perform. In Zumelle\, he will present a repertoire that blends folk\, blues\, and psychedelia. \nTo conclude\, on August 27 at the small square of Colderù\, the Vaganto\, a Belluno-based group that brings traditional Eastern and Northern European music to the squares\, transitioning from Balkan tradition to klezmer to Scandinavian dances. A concert ideal for dancing\, but also for attentive listening. \nThe concerts are free and open to the public. In case of bad weather\, they will be held at the Auditorium Ex-Chiesa di San Pietro in Mel.

DESCRIPTION:The conference analyzes the return to the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore of two masterpieces from Tintoretto’s late works\, the People of Israel in the Desert and the Last Supper\, repositioned after a significant restoration intervention. \nThe works are reconsidered in the original context of the Palladian presbytery\, where the dialogue between the Old and New Testaments\, the liturgy\, and the architecture contribute to enhancing their meaning. \nThe restoration thus offers the opportunity to interpret the two canvases not as isolated decorative elements\, but as fundamental parts of a visual and spiritual complex centered on the Eucharistic mystery. \nWith the return of the People of Israel in the desert and the Last Supper on the walls of the presbytery\, the basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore rediscovers two masterpieces from the last period of Jacopo Tintoretto.  \nThe recent relocation of the paintings\, which took place at the end of an important restoration project promoted by the Abbey of San Giorgio Maggiore – ETS branch and supported by Save Venice thanks to the generous contribution of the Stracke family\, provides an opportunity to reinterpret the works in the context for which they were conceived.  \nPainted around 1591–1592\, the two canvases are situated at the point of maximum liturgical and visual intensity of the Palladian basilica: the presbytery\, dominated by the high altar and its monumental tabernacle.  \nHere\, the People of Israel in the desert and the Last Supper create a tight dialogue between the Old and New Testaments\, oriented towards the Eucharistic mystery and amplified by the relationship with sculpture and architecture.  \nBased on the results emerged from the restoration\, the intervention proposes to reconsider the role of the two works not as mere side paintings\, but as constituent elements of an extraordinary dense figurative\, liturgical\, and architectural complex.  \nJacopo Tintoretto\, Last Supper\, part.\, Church of San Giorgio Maggiore\, Venice. \nGabriele Matino is a Senior Researcher at Save Venice and an independent curator.  \nHe holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Nottingham and has conducted research and teaching activities in various international institutions.  \nHe has received important scholarships\, including those from the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation\, Save Venice\, and the Getty Foundation.  \nHe has curated exhibitions dedicated to Venetian art\, including Art\, Faith\, and Medicine in Tintoretto’s Venice and Venetia 1600\, and has published numerous essays and volumes on artists and themes of Venetian painting\, with particular attention to Tintoretto\, Carpaccio\, and Titian.  \nAmong his most recent works is the volume dedicated to the Titian restorations promoted by Save Venice.

You will discover the Valle del Mis with the splendid “Cadini del Brentòn“\, a sequence of 15 deep cavities carved by the waters of the Brentòn stream; the Val Canzoi with its natural biodiversity; the Val di Zoldo with forests rich in legends; meadows and thickets of Salet\, where the Forest Company is present with beautiful horses\, and where there are many wild animals nearby such as frogs\, toads\, deer\, and roe deer. \n  The park is characterized by a great variety of environments: from the riparian areas in the valley bottom to the rocky walls at high altitudes\, passing through broadleaf forests\, coniferous forests\, high-altitude shrublands\, meadows\, and scree. To choose a place\, something more is needed: fundamental are  the relationships one manages to build around oneself.  \nThat is why\, within the PRIMAVERA CASA project – a project aimed at reopening  unused houses in Valbelluna to make them available to new inhabitants\, young people\, workers –  the widespread event TROVARSI was born.  \nA lot of outings to discover the territory\, to build relationships while walking. The 12 outings of TROVARSI AL SOLE are distributed both geographically (throughout Valbelluna)  and temporally (the first on June 20\, the last on October 18) and are completely free\,  but with limited number: therefore\, it is important to book\, through the site primaveracasa.eu or on Eventbrite (the  link is https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/trovarsi-al-sole-trovarsi-allombra-4844988). \n The event – which in autumn will become TROVARSI ALL’OMBRA\, moving to the taverns of  Valbelluna – is designed as a welcome for those who have recently moved here (but not only!)\, and have  pleasure in getting to know\, along with new places\, new people. And precisely to encourage meetings among those who do not yet know each other\, at the end or during the walks\, or  bike rides\, convivial moments are always planned – to chat also with your legs under the table\, in a refuge or in a  malga\, at the bar\, in a tavern\, with a refreshing aperitif. \n Even the  convivial moments are covered by the PRIMAVERA CASA project. A project that\, let us remember\, has been working for some years (since September 2022)\, thanks to the support of  the Cariverona Foundation\, together with property owners to reopen unused houses\, to give them  new life and make them available to those who wish to move to live and work in Valbelluna. The  project partners are\, from the beginning\, Società Nuova\, Isoipse\, ACLI servizi\, and the Dolomiti Prealpi Tourism Consortium. \n The TROVARSI event\, in particular\, is conceived and organized by ISOIPSE\, in collaboration with  the rest of the team.
