SUMMARY:Brusa la vecia
DESCRIPTION:The traditional mid-Lent festival. \nThe traditional “brusa la vecia” returns with the reading of the will; in case of bad weather\, the event will be moved to March 29. \noffered by the Zottier fractional committee! “Brusa la Vecia” is a traditional event that takes place in the mid-Lenten period. Following the reading of the “Will of the Vecia\,” the spectacular “bonfire” of the same takes place\, which evokes an ancient custom of popular tradition. It is indeed a true “rite of passage” from the old to the new\, from the bad season to the good\, which carries the intention of warding off any malevolence and fostering good.

SUMMARY:Mondovisioni. I documentari di Internazionale
DESCRIPTION:THE PLOT\nVladimir Putin had prepared his country for war with Ukraine long before it began. Starting in 2012\, a series of repressive laws were passed in Russia that label anyone publicly disagreeing with the official narrative as a “foreign agent.” In these circumstances\, a group of activists (such as Vladimir Kara-Murza\, recently released as part of the prisoner exchange on August 1\, 2024)\, media\, and independent Russian journalists (including the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize winner Dmitry Muratov\, director of the newspaper Novaya Gazeta)\, strive to resist and continue to engage and oppose. However\, immediately after the invasion\, any of their activities become practically impossible. Filmed during a decisive year\, just before and after the start of the conflict\, the documentary is a portrait and celebration of the last defenders of democracy in Russia\, who stubbornly seek to find a reason to hope for a different future for the country. \nTHE DIRECTORS\nAnonymous 1 is a Russian independent journalist and documentarian. Their name is not disclosed for security reasons: the author is in Russia and continues to document what happens to people subjected to a dictatorship and military regime. With the start of the war in Ukraine\, new Russian laws introduced military censorship\, criminalizing journalism as a profession. For the evidence presented in this film\, they risk up to 15 years in prison in Russia. \nAskold Kurov was born in Uzbekistan in 1974 and currently lives in Turkey. In 2010\, he graduated in documentary directing from the Marina Razbezhkina Film School in Moscow. In 2012\, he was one of the directors of the award-winning documentary Winter\, Go Away! His subsequent films Leninland\, Children 404 and The Trial: The State of Russia vs Oleg Sentsov have also received critical acclaim and have been screened at numerous festivals. His work focuses on human rights issues and social conflicts in contemporary Russia.

SUMMARY:Presentazione libro
DESCRIPTION:Guest Marzio G. Mian.Mian has conducted investigations and reports in 58 countries around the world\, and in 2023 he received the award for the best international report in Bern. He founded the non-profit journalism organization The Arctic Times Project\, which aims to report on the ground the consequences of climate change. He collaborates with “Internazionale\,” “L’Espresso\,” and other foreign magazines. With Neri Pozza\, he has written timely books with utmost precision. Among them are “Guerra bianca\,” “Maledetta Sarajevo\,” and “Artico. La battaglia per il Grande Nord.” \nAt our bookstore\, he will talk about his latest work\, published in September by Feltrinelli: “Volga Blues. A Journey into the Heart of Russia.” \nYou who frequent Agorà know how much we enjoy reports\, slow travels made to understand\, delve into\, and listen. Mian has done just that\, and he has done it in that land which for us Westerners has always been perceived as distant\, mysterious\, fascinating\, but also controversial. A land that since February 24\, 2022\, after Putin decided to invade Ukraine\, has plunged into an even darker darkness than that of the Soviet era. \nMian\, accompanied by his photographer friend Alessandro Cosmelli\, both without a journalistic visa\, traveled 6\,000 km along the Volga\, from its source in the Valdaj region to the delta of Astrakhan on the Caspian Sea. It is no coincidence that the journey unfolds along this totemic river of the Russian people. A river that in 2017 was officially consecrated in grand fashion by the Patriarch of Moscow Kirill\, alongside Vladimir Putin. But Mian’s project was not so much about analyzing the psyche of the Russian President\, who is now daily in the news\, but rather about better understanding the people (the peoples) of inner Russia\, and comprehending what it means to be Russian in the time of Putin’s neo-imperial offensive. A month immersed in deep Russia\, into the belly and soul of the Russians. Inside the heart of a great country that has made history\, and that once again is fundamental for the fate of humanity.

Those who\, once captured\, choose to double-cross to save their skin\, and sometimes even triple-cross. \nAnd there are also those who\, accused of being a spy\, are killed after the war to save others. \nThis book\, blending history and narrative\, reconstructs a real affair that occurred during the Resistance between 1944 and 1945 in the operational area of the Prealps\, the Alpenvorland O.Z.\, which became a province of the Reich. \nThe book sheds light on some unresolved issues: how the Gestapo managed to trace the leaders of the Resistance\, arresting all members of the CLN of Bolzano and the regional CLN of Veneto; how the American agent Steve Hall was captured in Cortina and why he was later assassinated in Bolzano. \nThe volume narrates who the mysterious and fascinating Isabel de Obligado really was and what role she played in Belluno; what the internal conflicts were within the repressive apparatus of the SS; and for what real reason Cesare Caramalli\, “Tell\,” a partisan of the Garibaldian Calvi brigade operating in Cadore\, was killed by the Americans in May 1945. \nThe author\, Toni Sirena\, journalist and historical researcher\, was born and lives in Belluno. He has worked since 1984 for “Nuova Venezia\,” “Mattino di Padova\,” “Tribuna di Treviso\,” and\, since 1994\, “Il corriere delle Alpi\,” “Trentino\,” and “Alto Adige.” \nAmong his numerous publications are I delitti di Alleghe\, le verità oscurate (2008)\, Morte al tiranno (2011)\, Il ponte delle disgrazie (2017)\, La Falcadina (2021). He is a member of the board of Isbrec. \nThe event is free entry. \nPresentation of the book by Toni Sirena\, It’s easy to say spy. Alpenvorland 1943-45 a controversial story of the Resistance.

DESCRIPTION:Experiences\, sensations\, and emotions in Borgo Valbelluna. \n“Camminando (Walking) Experiences\, Sensations\, Emotions” is the first festival in the province of Belluno dedicated to walking\, exploring its countless facets. Not only hiking but also the philosophy of walking\, its literature\, and the many protagonists who promote walking not only as a means of physical and mental well-being but also as a lifestyle and a way to savor the pleasure of discovering territories rich in culture\, history\, and nature like Borgo Valbelluna\, which is perfect for promoting slow tourism. \nThe 2025 edition has already opened with an autumn preview that proposed two events that had a significant public response. The first meeting was with the ultra-trail runner Mario Piazzo and “Fatigue Makes You Happy\,” a story of how sport and walking can be a means of rediscovering oneself and experiencing strong emotions. The event with Giovanni Carraro\, who presented a preview of his new work of historical research and mapping of the trail network that crosses the villages of the foothills of Borgo Valbelluna\, was sold out. \nOn February 7th\, Daniele Matterazzo will return to the San Felice Hall in Trichiana at 8:45 pm. Daniele will recount his latest adventure in Greenland along an ancient seasonal migration route used by the Inuit since antiquity. The following day he will meet with schools. \nOn March 28th\, the cartographer-writer Luigi Farrauto will finally be a guest at the festival with his “Geographies of a Timid Traveler\,” an ironic guide to what not to do when traveling to the most remote places on earth. The presentation\, which will be held at 5:30 pm at the Palazzo delle Contesse in Mel\, will be in collaboration with the Zumellese Theater Group\, which will read some passages from the book; followed by an aperitif with the author and the opportunity to visit Cinetismo Cromatico (March 8th – May 4th)\, an exhibition of kinetic art that brings together some of the most important international artists. \nOn April 11th at 8:45 pm\, in the Auditorium San Pietro di Mel\, Camminando brings the flamenco show El Corazón al Sur to Belluno for the first time\, a story of a people’s journey to the new continent\, bringing with them their culture\, their songs\, and their dances. \nOn May 11th in Lentiai\, Disabili Incorsa and gli Spingitori Inaffidabili propose a walk accompanying and pushing people with disabilities\, sharing the experience of walking together. \nFinally\, there is great anticipation in June for the photographic exhibition by Manrico Dell’Agnola IMMENSO BLU\, which arrives in Veneto for the first time with its spectacular Antarctic landscapes reproduced in the eponymous film\, a story of an alpine-exploratory expedition that will be screened. \nThe entire festival will be enriched as always by cultural walks and tastings to discover local producers and themed dinners.

SUMMARY:...Memoria
DESCRIPTION:The  stumbling stones (in German Stolpersteine) are an initiative by the German artist Gunter Demnig to embed a widespread memory of the citizens deported to Nazi extermination camps into the urban and social fabric of European cities. The initiative began in Cologne in 1995 and has so far led to the installation of about 60\,000 stones in various European cities. It consists of incorporating small stone blocks (standard-sized cobblestones) into the pavement of cities\, usually in front of the last residences of the deportation victims\, covered with a brass plate engraved with the deportee’s details\, including date and place of deportation\, and\, when known\, date of death. \n The stumble is not physical but visual and mental\, as it forces passersby to question that diversity and remember what happened at that place and on that date\, continuously intertwining the past and the present\, memory and current events. The Stolpersteine are a concrete and tangible sign\, yet discreet\, becoming part of the city\, confirming that memory cannot be relegated to occasional and celebratory events; it must be an integral part of daily life. \nOn Holocaust Memorial Day we are honored to announce that the Municipality of Setteville has obtained the Stumbling Stone in memory of Dina Dora Hasenlauf\, a child born in Quero in 1942\, and of the other Jewish children who lived in Quero\, in the internment camp that was established here during World War II. \nA concrete sign\, strongly desired by the Quero community\, to honor the victims\, preserve historical memory\, and not forget the sufferings of a tragic chapter in history\, which will soon be laid in a significant location of the town. \nA stumbling stone for Dina Dora
