DESCRIPTION:Open from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. \nFree admission. \nReservation is not required. \n Extraordinary opening to the public. \nThe pre-Roman necropolis of Mel in Borgo Valbelluna opens exceptionally to the public every Sunday in July and August from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and in conjunction with the openings of the church of the Addolorata in the center of Mel (Saturday\, July 4 and Saturday\, August 1) it will be possible to access and visit the state archaeological area that preserves the monumental burial ground of the Ancient Venetians.  \nA “city of the dead” among the oldest in Valbelluna and one of the few currently visitable in the entire Veneto region\, rediscovered thanks to excavations that began in 1958\, stands at the entrance to the village of Mel and allows us to understand how the Paleoveneti lived and what their economic and social structure was. \nThe approximately 80 tombs found are inserted within 7 circles made of sandstone slabs set vertically in the ground. The ashes of the deceased were placed in ceramic or bronze vessels along with some everyday objects inside polygonal boxes. Thus\, a sort of family tomb was formed. The cremation vessels and all the objects that accompanied the burials – ornaments and tools – are displayed in the rooms of the Civic Archaeological Museum located in the Palazzo delle Contesse in the square of Mel. \nThe Ancient Venetians or Paleoveneti were an Indo-European population that arrived in northeastern Italy after the middle of the 2nd millennium B.C. Thanks to numerous archaeological excavations and related findings\, the history and identity of this population have been reconstructed over the years. The Venetians initially settled in the area between Lake Garda and the Euganean Hills and later expanded to Adria (RO) to the south\, and to the Tagliamento River to the east. \nFree entry.

This is the goal of “The Thursdays of the Park”\, a series of four evening meetings promoted by the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park and the Pro Loco of Longarone\, designed to offer the public an opportunity to delve into some of the most representative themes of the region’s natural heritage. \nThe meetings\, hosted at the Park Information Point in Longarone\, will be led by officials\, researchers\, and experts who will guide the public in discovering the Park through stories\, insights\, and curiosities dedicated to the biodiversity of the Dolomiti Bellunesi. \nThe program will kick off on July 23 with a presentation dedicated to the Park and its values\, continuing on July 30 with a meeting about flora\, on August 6 with an in-depth look at the wildcat and other small mammals of the area\, and concluding on August 13 with an evening dedicated to butterflies and their role in ecosystems. \nAll meetings will take place at 8:30 p.m. at the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park Information Point in Longarone. DESCRIPTION:The summer appointment with great music returns to Borgo Valbelluna. \nThe sixth edition of Concerts in the Village is underway\, with a proposal of three musical events in the territory of Borgo Valbelluna. \nThe event begins on Friday\, July 31 in the garden of Palazzo Francescon in Mel with the Cuerdas Trio\, an ensemble that offers a repertoire of traditional Central American music with typical instruments (charango\, cuatro\, setar) and a classical approach. The repertoire combines rearranged folk songs for trio and original music inspired by Andean tradition. Their debut\, “Gentile”\, from 2025 was included in the best debuts of the year by Radio3\, and the Cuerdas have performed throughout Italy receiving excellent acclaim. \nContinuing on Thursday\, August 6 in the evocative atmosphere of the Castello di Zumelle where Krano\, a singer-songwriter who gained popularity by composing the soundtrack for the film Le Città di Pianura\, winner of 8 David di Donatello awards\, including for best song with the track “Ti”\, will perform. In Zumelle\, he will present a repertoire that blends folk\, blues\, and psychedelia. \nTo conclude\, on August 27 at the small square of Colderù\, the Vaganto\, a Belluno-based group that brings traditional Eastern and Northern European music to the squares\, transitioning from Balkan tradition to klezmer to Scandinavian dances. A concert ideal for dancing\, but also for attentive listening. \nThe concerts are free and open to the public. In case of bad weather\, they will be held at the Auditorium Ex-Chiesa di San Pietro in Mel.
