DESCRIPTION:It has been there for 3300 years\, a small witness of the era of great European archaeological sites. \nVisiting the ancient site of Noàl\, today Archaeological Park\, means rewinding the tape of time and returning to the Bronze Age\, the Iron Age\, and the Middle Ages. A place of evocative beauty\, between the Piave and Cordevole rivers\, Noàl has witnessed the succession of peoples and metallurgical innovations\, empires\, and warrior bishops. \nToday\, thanks to a long process of research and rediscovery\, the archaeological park of Noàl fully restores the mystery and energy of millennia of history and legends:  it is enough to close your eyes to imagine the first blacksmiths at work\, medieval music\, and songs. \nTo relive the history of Noàl\, within the Park there is an educational path equipped with panels illustrating the history of the place\, the research\, the findings\, and indicating the layers of different periods of the fortified settlement/castle. \nAt the top of the tower\, built to a height similar to the ancient one to protect its remains\, with a panoramic view of 360° over the valley and the peaks of the Belluno Dolomites Park\, is the educational classroom\, equipped with display cases housing perfect replicas of the found artifacts\, explanatory panels\, and panoramic panels to survey and identify the ancient network of castles\, protohistoric settlements\, lookout towers\, the main peaks of the surrounding mountains\, the villages\, the Piave\, and the Cordevole. \nIt is recommended to bring a windbreaker or a sweatshirt (the tower can have a cool breeze). \nIn case of bad weather\, visits will be canceled. \nFor group visits (+10 people)\, it is always necessary to book at this address giannidv42@gmail.com to agree on the timing. \nGuided tours of the archaeological park of Noal with the opening of the tower.

DESCRIPTION:Open from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. \nFree admission. \nReservation is not required. \n Extraordinary opening to the public. \nThe pre-Roman necropolis of Mel in Borgo Valbelluna opens exceptionally to the public every Sunday in July and August from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and in conjunction with the openings of the church of the Addolorata in the center of Mel (Saturday\, July 4 and Saturday\, August 1) it will be possible to access and visit the state archaeological area that preserves the monumental burial ground of the Ancient Venetians.  \nA “city of the dead” among the oldest in Valbelluna and one of the few currently visitable in the entire Veneto region\, rediscovered thanks to excavations that began in 1958\, stands at the entrance to the village of Mel and allows us to understand how the Paleoveneti lived and what their economic and social structure was. \nThe approximately 80 tombs found are inserted within 7 circles made of sandstone slabs set vertically in the ground. The ashes of the deceased were placed in ceramic or bronze vessels along with some everyday objects inside polygonal boxes. Thus\, a sort of family tomb was formed. The cremation vessels and all the objects that accompanied the burials – ornaments and tools – are displayed in the rooms of the Civic Archaeological Museum located in the Palazzo delle Contesse in the square of Mel. \nThe Ancient Venetians or Paleoveneti were an Indo-European population that arrived in northeastern Italy after the middle of the 2nd millennium B.C. Thanks to numerous archaeological excavations and related findings\, the history and identity of this population have been reconstructed over the years. The Venetians initially settled in the area between Lake Garda and the Euganean Hills and later expanded to Adria (RO) to the south\, and to the Tagliamento River to the east. \nFree entry.

This is the goal of “The Thursdays of the Park”\, a series of four evening meetings promoted by the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park and the Pro Loco of Longarone\, designed to offer the public an opportunity to delve into some of the most representative themes of the region’s natural heritage. \nThe meetings\, hosted at the Park Information Point in Longarone\, will be led by officials\, researchers\, and experts who will guide the public in discovering the Park through stories\, insights\, and curiosities dedicated to the biodiversity of the Dolomiti Bellunesi. \nThe program will kick off on July 23 with a presentation dedicated to the Park and its values\, continuing on July 30 with a meeting about flora\, on August 6 with an in-depth look at the wildcat and other small mammals of the area\, and concluding on August 13 with an evening dedicated to butterflies and their role in ecosystems. \nAll meetings will take place at 8:30 p.m. at the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park Information Point in Longarone. Participation is free with mandatory reservation.
