DESCRIPTION:Entry 5 euros\, free for members and children under 11 years old.  \nIn May\, you can look forward to a rich program at the “Giuliano Vanin” Astronomical Center in Arson! \nSaturday\, May 3: an evening dedicated to the Moon. It will be quite an exceptional moment\, because to the best of the writer’s memory\, there has never been an opportunity in over forty years of public access to our observatories to admire the Apollo 11 landing area with the Moon this high. In addition to the entire Sea of Tranquility\, the eastern shore of the Sea of Serenity with the craters Posidonius and Plinius\, the wonderful complex on the western edge of the Sea of Nectar formed by the craters Teophilus\, Cyrillus\, and Catharina\, and further south the complex of the craters Pitiscus\, Hommel\, and Vlacq will also be visible. Through the telescope\, the blue star Regulus and the beautiful double stars Iota Cancri and Algieba will also be showcased. In case of bad weather\, the best moon landscape videos collected by the members corresponding to that evening’s phase will be projected in the planetarium\, in addition to showing the sky of the month and full-dome videos about the Moon. \nSaturday\, May 10: an evening dedicated to the little ones at the planetarium. Children will have various types of metal marbles\, tennis balls\, and balloons at their disposal to represent the sizes of the different planets. Then\, they will build a model together with the sun at the center and eight concentric circles representing the orbits of the planets. The planets will be made to move simulating their different speeds. Then\, with the help of the planetarium\, they will be able to see directly in the sky how the planets move in reality\, how they appear when viewed up close in space\, and have a very realistic view of their relative sizes\, even in relation to the Sun. If the weather is nice\, the Moon will still be observable in the sky. In its waxing phase\, with the craters John Herschel\, Anaximander\, and Pythagoras prominently displayed\, Mount Rumkor\, full of lunar domes\, and the craters Cavalerius\, Hevelius\, Schickard\, Wargentin\, and Phocylides will also be visible. Additionally\, two extraordinarily bright passes of the International Space Station will be observable. \nSaturday\, May 17: the explosion of the recurring nova T Coronae Borealis\, which will be visible to the naked eye. To prepare for the event\, there will be extensive discussions on this type of phenomenon\, which involves very tight double stars with very turbulent lives. From an observational point of view\, the spring galaxies will be particularly admired\, such as Bode and the Cigarette in Ursa Major\, the Needle and the Black Eye in Coma Berenices\, and the Sombrero in Virgo. There will be two more brilliant passes of the ISS. \nSaturday\, May 24: Dr. Gianluigi Zanola will speak on a highly topical scientific subject\, namely how much we truly know about the minds of animals and how we can speak of their consciousness\, an aspect that is intimately connected with the search for other forms of life in the universe. If the sky is clear\, the spring galaxies will again be observable\, along with the beautiful globular cluster M 3. Two more passes of the ISS will delight the evening. \nFinally\, on Saturday\, May 31\, the second of the evenings\, with free admission\, will take place for those\, members and non-members\, who want to learn to use the instruments of the Center or even bring their own and have it explained how to use it. In case of bad weather\, visitors can still ask\, indoors\, for insights about the functioning of their own instruments\, and the sky of the month will be presented in the planetarium\, with slides and videos. \nMay at the Astronomical Center

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 17 at 5:00 PM\, in the ground floor hall of Palazzo Doglioni in Borgo Piave\, the Museum of the River Port and the Raft Men of Borgo Piave will be inaugurated. This permanent exhibition features objects\, original tools\, images of documents\, posters\, and photographs that tell the story of when Borgo Piave was the river port of the City of Belluno and a main stop between the Dolomites and Venice.  \nThe museum space will be precisely in the hall where the raft men of Borgo Piave exchanged goods\, opinions\, shared issues\, but also taught new generations the noble and difficult art of “navigating the Piave.” It is right here that the model of raft that Bepi “Gal” Marchetti made to educate the raft men of the village has returned\, and which he later donated to the Civic Museum of Belluno at the beginning of the century. \nAdditionally\, in this contained space\, it will be possible to see other tools from the profession of the Marchetti family\, “Raft Men of the Suburb of San Nicolò della Piave” since at least 1663\, such as the anger\, the zapin\, the sogàt\, the outfit with the typical wide-brimmed hat used to deflect rain off the shoulders during raft journeys\, and also the hammers with which the Collarin sawmills\, later Bellunesi\, which had their headquarters right in Borgo Piave along the river\, stamped their trees in the woods\, but also photographs showing the village with rafts\, the historical reenactment of 1951\, which started right from the sawmills of the village\, and other identity elements of Borgo Piave such as the typical planes for joinery and furniture by Gregorio Gamba “Marangon di Piave.” Other tools come from the collection of Fioretto Bortot and Ivano Caviola\, whom we thank for their donations. \n“The epic of the raft men has been rediscovered\, known\, and narrated for a few years now\, but in Belluno\, due partly to the Vajont and the flood of ’66\, the history had somewhat faded because the river-related community of the village was forced to move to other areas of the city\, less exposed to floods and inundations\, effectively disbanding the group of people who could carry this story forward directly on-site.  \nThrough research and deepening our understanding over the years\, we have managed to piece together the story thanks to the availability of the direct descendants of those who lived and worked at the port of Belluno\, such as the Marchetti family\, the Collarin\, and the Sommavilla-Vigna lineage. Now we are almost ready to add the story of the Raft Men of Borgo Piave to the narrative of the Dolomite Masks.” \nThe date of the inauguration was chosen because it corresponds to the European Night of Museums\, making it very suitable for the opening of a new museum space. Furthermore\, on Sunday\, May 18\, the same weekend\, the International Museum Day also occurs\, this year themed “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Evolving Communities\,” which also fits well with Borgo Piave\, where storytelling by community volunteers is the distinctive element of the Secco Museum\, opened in October 2023. \nDue to space constraints\, reservations are appreciated at segreteria@borgopiaveetc.it  \nThose who wish can leave a contribution useful for the association’s activities and the setup of the room. \nOn the ground floor of Palazzo Doglioni\, the Museum of the River Port and the Loggers of Borgo Piave opens with a permanent exhibition of original objects and photos of the trades that characterized the port of Belluno.

DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the 60th anniversary of their founding (1965-2025)\, the Polyphonic Choir CTG of Belluno has created a rich program of concerts in the municipality of Belluno and outside the province. \nIt begins on Saturday April 12\, at 8:00 PM with a concert for the Jubilee “Per crucem ad lucem” at the Church of San Rocco. Guest choirs will be the Trentino Philharmonic Choir conducted by Sandro Filippi and the CTG Polyphonic Choir conducted by Stefano Da Ros. \nContinuing on Saturday May 17\, at 5:00 PM\, at Palazzo Crepadona\, there will be a conference moderated by Elena Filini titled “Msgr. Sergio Manfroi: the man\, the priest\, the musician\, the educator“. \nThe concert that will open their summer season will take place on Saturday June 14\, at 8:45 PM at the Cathedral of Belluno. The “Symphonic-Choral Concert” will be presided over by the Veneto Regional Philharmonic Orchestra\, the Tetracordo Academy\, and the CTG Polyphonic Choir\, conducted by Stefano Da Ros and Mariagrazia Marcon. \nFollowing that\, on Friday July 4\, at 8:45 PM at the Church of San Giovanni Bosco\, there will be a concert by the “Melodi” Choir from Athens (Greece). \nFinally\, the last dates are already known: on Sunday November 9 at 5:00 PM at the Church of San Pietro\, there will be Holy Mass and Te Deum by Lorenzo Perosi\, while on Sunday December 7 at 5:00 PM at the Church of San Giovanni Bosco\, there will be the Advent Concert. \nThe review in honor of the choir’s 60th anniversary will conclude on Monday December 29 at the Cathedral of Feltre\, at 8:30 PM\, with the Christmas Concert. \nConcerts and conferences

Upon arriving\, one of them looked around and exclaimed\, “this is a Paradise!”.We will also depart from the picturesque village of Arsiè\, and after visiting it with Diego Rizzo\, the soul and driving force of this place\, we will hike up to the Paradises\, where you can enjoy a splendid view and some rustic houses will tell us about times gone by.We will be welcomed by Guido Barzan\, the great-grandson of the legendary brothers\, along with his family\, who will recount unique stories.Up there\, we will have a varied and hearty snack\, with fresh bread baked locally in an ancient wood-fired oven.From this sunny plateau\, we will enjoy an extensive panorama and feel ourselves in… Paradise!. \nDuration approximately 3 and a half hours.
