DESCRIPTION:Conference \nOn Friday\, April 10th at 8:30 PM\, the conference “ARCHAEOLOGY AND TRAFFIC ALONG THE PIAVE. Ancient settlements and fortifications in strategic and historically significant locations“ will be held\, curated by the archaeologist Michele Zanchetta. \nThe Piave Valley has always been a thoroughfare; along this natural axis\, humans have traveled and traded\, but armies have also marched and imposed limits and boundaries. Doing archaeology in a mountainous and valley setting means considering the evolution of the territory and the landscape over time\, with evident consequences on the structures and works of men. Speaking of ancient settlements in the mountainous environment means analyzing the evolution of the landscape over time\, trying to reconstruct the networks of relationships between the centers and their development in the territory and society. \nHumans adapt to the environment for their needs; only in extreme cases do they decide to adapt the environment\, but involving large social structures to achieve this purpose. Analyzing an environment is an attempt to reconstruct a series of minor contexts\, to provide a general history of the territory.Michele Zanchetta\, born in Conegliano\, graduated in humanities in Padua with a thesis on settlement fortification from late antiquity to the Middle Ages between Piave and Livenza. For years he has worked as a freelance archaeologist in the Triveneto region\, also engaging in educational and cultural activities with local associations. \nHe has published “The Castle of Conegliano”\, the entries for Veneto in the “Guide to Castles and Fortified Cities” and numerous excavations in “Protection of Cultural Heritage in South Tyrol”. In 2016\, he participated in the publication of “Venetian Fortresses and Bastions”\, documenting the main fortresses of the Serenissima in Italy and the Mediterranean\, and began his collaboration with Il Quindicinale. In 2021\, he published the “Atlas of Castles between Piave and Livenza”\, documenting 349 structures from Roman times to the modern age. Recently\, he published “The Great Guide to the Castles of the Veneto. From late Roman times to the Serenissima”. He has been on the National Board of the National Association of Archaeologists and that of the Italian Institute of Castles of Veneto for years. \nFree admission.

DESCRIPTION:The second edition of the “Themed Concert” will take place on Saturday\, April 11\, 2026\, at 8:30 PM\, as usual at the F. Parri Cultural Center in Longarone. Right after the first edition\, which in 2025 celebrated “THE MOUNTAIN”\, our choice for the 2026 edition has been “EMIGRATION”. It seemed right to remember this plight\, which has heavily affected our land: from the end of the 1800s to the present day\, almost every family has had a relative who left to seek fortune in distant countries\, forced to abandon homes\, towns\, and loved ones due to poverty and hunger. The choice of the theme “EMIGRATION” turned out to be appropriate and focused. In fact\, in 2026 we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Bellunesi in the World\, established on January 9\, 1966\, as well as the 60th anniversary of the related magazine “Bellunesi nel Mondo”\, currently directed by Dino Bridda\, who will be the host of our evening. There could not have been a better theme nor a better presenter. The guest choirs have also been chosen for their sensitivity to the theme of emigration. In fact\, along with the “KANTAS VOCAL GROUP”\, the “MONTE DOLADA CHOIR” and the “VOICES FROM THE CORTIVI CHOIR” will perform. During the evening\, a photographic exhibition on emigration will be set up: the material has been provided by the “Association of former Emigrants from Longarone”\, the “Fameja dei Zatèr e Menedàs de la Piave” from Codissago\, and the “Association of Stone Carvers” from Castellavazzo\, and by Anna D’Incà (personal archive). With the impending arrival of a new season\, the constellations that dominate the winter sky gradually shift westward\, allowing the spring ones to take center stage and offering us the opportunity to admire fascinating celestial phenomena. \nUnder the physical sky of the starry dome and then an artificial one on the planetarium dome\, we will tell the story of Virgo\, Gemini\, Leo\, Coma Berenices\, and also the most beautiful objects contained within them. Tales and myths of heroes\, animals\, kings\, and queens that will unveil the most beautiful stories and poems of the spring sky. \nThe moonless night will first give us the chance to discover which new constellations the upcoming season presents and then to scrutinize\, with the Center’s instruments\, galaxies and globular clusters like M3 in Ophiuchus\, as well as colorful double stars\, the bright star Regulus in Leo\, and Arcturus in Boötes\, the fourth brightest star in the entire sky. We will also have the chance to observe for the last time the planet Jupiter\, to the west in the constellation of Gemini\, shining majestically along with its Galilean moons. A rich menu\, in short\, that Sandra and the Rheticus staff will help us discover with our eyes and hearts.    \nEntry €5\, free for members in good standing with the 2026 renewal and children up to 11 years old. Reservation is not required.
