DESCRIPTION:The Parish Group of Carve -Borgo Valbelluna- has organized two important initiatives focused on the Vajont tragedy: the original Easter Nativity scene and the exhibition “Vajont to not forget\,” created in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Longarone\, with the aim of keeping alive the memory of an event that has profoundly marked our history. \nThe spirit of these events is inspired by the words of Pope Francis who said in 2024\, during the audience of representatives of the population affected by the tragedy of Longarone\, on the sixtieth anniversary\, that the reconstruction efforts are “seeds of resurrection\,” and that even if they don’t make much news\, they are “precious in the eyes of God.” \nIn these days when we impotently witness the destruction caused by armed conflicts with the death of helpless children and adults\, there is a need for the cessation of wars\, the material reconstruction of severely affected territories\, and the restoration of the social fabric through peace and brotherhood among peoples. The necessity for seeds of resurrection to be planted where there is now only pain and death. \nThe events on Sunday\, March 29 will see\, in the presence of the Mayor of Borgo Valbelluna Stefano Cesa and of Longarone Roberto Padrin\, at 10 o’clock at the end of the Holy Mass the opening of the Easter Nativity scene\, followed by the inauguration of the exhibition at the parish hall. \n \nTwo events of deep significance and moral value that are a call for everyone. \nThe Easter Nativity of Carve\, among the few present in the province and at the regional level\, stands out for its originality as it is completely made with artisanal skill from the figurines to the sheep\, of the mountains that overlook Longarone to the dam\, with a suggestive and very engaging setting. \nThe exhibition “Vajont to not forget” will present impactful images that narrate the historical excursus of the event with photos of “Old Longarone\,” from the construction of the dam to the disaster that occurred on the night of October 9\, 1963\, from the rescue efforts to the reconstruction. \nOn Sunday\, April 19 there will be a closing concert in the church at Carve by the Kantas vocal group from Codissago\, directed by Anna D’incà\, at 6:00 PM \n \nOpen every holiday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and in the afternoon from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM \nalso open Saturday afternoons from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM \nfor any visits outside scheduled hours contact: Luigino: 360536730 or Sandrino 3493606898 \n \nMemory and resurrection

The Polpetta and Frollino company from the Gil Alcuni theatrical production center presents the Town Musicians of Bremen\, a show for children aged three and up and families\, and to close\, from April 28 to May 19\, the course “The Wonders of the Illustrated Book” dedicated to educators and teachers. \n Moreover\, the project “Librarian for a Day” aimed at children aged 10 to 11\, as well as the exhibitions “Dolomites and Plain. DESCRIPTION:Conference \nOn Friday\, April 10th at 8:30 PM\, the conference “ARCHAEOLOGY AND TRAFFIC ALONG THE PIAVE. Ancient settlements and fortifications in strategic and historically significant locations“ will be held\, curated by the archaeologist Michele Zanchetta. \nThe Piave Valley has always been a thoroughfare; along this natural axis\, humans have traveled and traded\, but armies have also marched and imposed limits and boundaries. Doing archaeology in a mountainous and valley setting means considering the evolution of the territory and the landscape over time\, with evident consequences on the structures and works of men. Speaking of ancient settlements in the mountainous environment means analyzing the evolution of the landscape over time\, trying to reconstruct the networks of relationships between the centers and their development in the territory and society. \nHumans adapt to the environment for their needs; only in extreme cases do they decide to adapt the environment\, but involving large social structures to achieve this purpose. Analyzing an environment is an attempt to reconstruct a series of minor contexts\, to provide a general history of the territory.Michele Zanchetta\, born in Conegliano\, graduated in humanities in Padua with a thesis on settlement fortification from late antiquity to the Middle Ages between Piave and Livenza. For years he has worked as a freelance archaeologist in the Triveneto region\, also engaging in educational and cultural activities with local associations. \nHe has published “The Castle of Conegliano”\, the entries for Veneto in the “Guide to Castles and Fortified Cities” and numerous excavations in “Protection of Cultural Heritage in South Tyrol”. In 2016\, he participated in the publication of “Venetian Fortresses and Bastions”\, documenting the main fortresses of the Serenissima in Italy and the Mediterranean\, and began his collaboration with Il Quindicinale. In 2021\, he published the “Atlas of Castles between Piave and Livenza”\, documenting 349 structures from Roman times to the modern age. Recently\, he published “The Great Guide to the Castles of the Veneto. From late Roman times to the Serenissima”. He has been on the National Board of the National Association of Archaeologists and that of the Italian Institute of Castles of Veneto for years. \nFree admission.
