SUMMARY:Mail Art
DESCRIPTION:The Municipality of Borgo Valbelluna\, the Workers’ Society of Lentiai\, and the AUSER of Lentiai promote the Mail Art project. \nMail Art is an artistic practice that uses the postal service to send and receive “works of art\,” usually of small dimensions\, such as postcards and illustrated envelopes. \nIn an era dominated by digital communications\, the aim is to rediscover the value of postal correspondence as a form of relational art and as a tool for building connections through creativity. \nThe project is open to every artistic language: painting\, poetry\, singing\, sculpture\, writing\, illustration\, and music. \nThe young people have created “mini works” that have been sent and will be sent to artists\, museums\, galleries\, cultural associations\, radio stations\, and record labels\, asking them for a creative response and a brief testimony of their activity. \nThe invitation is not only directed at artists but also to cultural institutions\, museums\, galleries\, and associations that can share their projects and highlight interested artists\, or contribute by spreading the attached letter to the artists they collaborate with. \nAll material received will be collected and kept by the Municipality of Borgo Valbelluna (the Mel fraction – Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club)\, with the ambitious goal of transforming the town into the “Municipality of Mail Art\,” by organizing public exhibitions of the works received. \n“We want this initiative to grow over time and become an opportunity for dialogue between different artistic languages\, enhancing the human and creative contact that a simple letter can generate\,” explains Marco Bellotto\, president of the SOMS. \n Organizers of the Mail Art project: Marco Bellotto\, Christian Benincà\, Lorenzo Durante (President Auser)\, Annalisa Gasperin\, Duilio Maggis\, Hane Ponik\, Zoe Zanella. Collaborators: Matteo Bellotto\, Walter Bernardi\, Mauro Bianchet\, Patrizia Milani\, Barbara Pasa\, Alex Pergher\, Caterina Pison. \n For all information\, contact the IAT of Borgo Valbelluna

SUMMARY:Francis of Assisi on the eighth centenary of his death
DESCRIPTION:800 years after the death of Francis of Assisi\, the Municipal Administration has chosen to dedicate various events to this extraordinary figure of saint and poet. \nThanks to the synergy with the Parish of the Concatedral of Feltre\, a detailed program of cultural and spiritual events has been defined\, which will begin in March and conclude in October. The various initiatives will offer the opportunity to explore and enhance “the little poor man of Assisi” from multiple perspectives\, highlighting the relevance and richness of his message. \n The unmissable event of the reading marathon will be dedicated to the Saint and will take place in the morning at schools and will continue with an urban trekking through the places in the city where Franciscanism has left tangible traces. \nTo confirm the presence and impact of the Franciscan tradition in the territory\, there will also be conferences promoted by the Parish\, which will precede the initiative\, and the exhibition set up at the “Carlo Rizzarda” Modern Art Gallery. \n Two authoritative figures from the cultural landscape will help outline the profile of Saint Francis of Assisi: Vittorino Andreoli\, author of the book ” The Madman of God: The Story of Francis of Assisi” and Aldo Cazzullo\, the protagonist of a monologue he wrote himself. Literature\, history\, art\, and spirituality intertwine in Feltre as a tribute to the Patron Saint of Italy\, whose feast day has been restored on October 4. \nCultural and spiritual events in the city of Feltre

SUMMARY:Animali - ponte tra spirito e materia
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition is open on Saturday and Sunday from 14:00 to 18:00. \nA new temporary exhibition titled “Animals as a Bridge between Spirit and Matter” arrives at the Museum of Stone and Stone Carvers. Nature as a way to open the gaze\, explore one’s imagination and reveal different viewpoints of Ylenia Piat\, artist and art therapist. \nThe inauguration will be held on Friday\, March 27 at 6:30 PM. \nYlenia’s artistic research stems from a deep dialogue with Nature. Nature is seen as a continuous wonder\, in its splendid multiplicity of forms and spaces\, where every aspect is woven into our existence as human beings. Animals\, trees\, and matter become traveling companions: living presences through which to explore the relationship between the visible and the invisible. The wolf\, a recurring figure in this journey\, represents a mirror: a symbolic guide that invites one to go beyond labels and reconnect with elusive parts of oneself. \nAlongside the symbolic dimension of animals\, the exhibition places the focus on matter: stone\, wood\, paper\, and mark are not just tools but genuine interlocutors in the creative process. Blending art and art therapy\, Ylenia’s work proposes a space for experience and exploration\, where the relationship with nature and materials becomes a path of knowledge and transformation. \n Three creative workshops inspired by Nature are also planned\, where animals\, stones\, and marks become bridges between imagination and emotion. Through shared making\, we will explore together the language of images\, giving shape and color to stories\, relationships\, and inner worlds. \n– ANIMALS AS BRIDGES. For child-adult pairs (ages 4 and up). Saturday\, March 28\, 2026\, at 10:00 AM \n– PAPER\, WOOD\, AND STONE. For child-adult pairs (ages 6 and up). Saturday\, May 23\, 2026\, at 3:00 PM. Available upon request for adults at 5:15 PM \n– ANIMALS\, STONES\, AND OTHER STORIES. For child-adult pairs (ages 6 and up). Saturday\, July 18\, 2026\, at 2:30 PM \nSpaces in the workshops are limited\, reservation is required two days before the workshop date. SUMMARY:Il maggio dei libri
DESCRIPTION:The events of Borgo Valbelluna \nThe May of Books returns to Borgo Valbelluna. \nThe program prepared by the municipality of Borgo Valbelluna to participate in the national initiative The May of Books is rich. Born in 2011 with the aim of highlighting the social value of books as a key element of personal\, cultural\, and civic growth\, The May of Books is a national campaign that invites bringing books and reading into contexts different from traditional ones\, to reach those who usually do not read but can be intrigued if stimulated in the right way. \nIn its mission\, The May of Books actively involves local authorities\, schools\, libraries\, bookstores\, festivals\, publishers\, cultural associations\, and various public and private entities. In Italy and beyond: every year\, indeed\, the campaign crosses national borders\, uniting different realities in a common passion for reading\, such as Italian schools abroad. Thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation\, numerous events have been held in various countries over the editions. \nIt starts on May 6 at the Library in Lentiai with “Cuddles to Read\,” a moment dedicated to the youngest children\, aged 0 to 3 years. A moment of readings and sharing not only for the little ones but also for their moms and dads. It will then proceed with two kamishibai\, a form of storytelling that originated in Japan in the Buddhist temples of the 12th century and can be translated as “paper theater performance.” \nThere will be a double appointment with KamiLab\, on the 8th at the Library in Trichiana (Every face is a poem) and on the 15th in Lentiai (The box of memories)\, both at 5 PM. \nAlso on the 15th\, this time at the library in Trichiana\, the exhibition “Blessed Spring” will be inaugurated\, a collection of watercolors curated by the group telling Acquarellando\, an artistic reality led by Donata Dal Molin that has long combined refined techniques and poetic imaginations designed to engage children and adults. The exhibition will remain open until June 16\, 2026\, and will be accessible for free during library hours (Mon-Fri 3 PM – 6 PM; Wed and Sat 9 AM – 12 PM). The path collects a series of works that highlight the delicacy and complexity of watercolor\, a technique capable of transforming spots and washes into vivid and evocative worlds. Many of the displayed watercolors come from illustrated books created over the years by the group\, which has managed to transform each table into a visual story capable of moving. The artists involved—Alberta Bassetto\, Silvia Bazzo\, Flavio Cortella\, Laura Fistarol\, Tiziana Furlan\, Alessandra Seganfreddo\, and Martina Zanusso—actually collaborate regularly with Donata Dal Molin in creating stories for children that combine sign\, color\, and narrative sensitivity. The themes of the works on display range from “Flowered Heads” to imaginary castles\, to illustrations of “The Canticle of Creatures” by Saint Francis\, of which the eighth centenary of the death is celebrated in 2026. The Group will then curate an afternoon of readings for girls and boys taken from their books (May 22 at 4:00 PM for the 0-3 age group\, at 5:15 PM for the 6-12 age group). \nTwo events are instead dedicated to an adult audience. On May 13\, at 8:30 PM\, at the Hall of Frescoes in the municipality of Mel\, the Venetian publishing house Wetlands will present the title “They Killed Habibi” by Shrouq Aila\, an award-winning journalist from Gaza\, who tells in a touching and poignant book the life of a mother during the war. As a sign of solidarity and support for the Palestinian people\, the entire editorial production chain\, from editors to translators\, from graphic designers to printers\, participated in the making of this book for free. The proceeds from sales\, including international rights\, are entirely donated to the author. The readers of the group Voices of Passage will give voice to the testimony. On May 28\, the evening will instead be dedicated to the illustrated book and the importance of images with the meeting asking\, “Why do human beings love stories?” On TV\, at the cinema\, in the theater\, around the fire… in books. An evening to reflect and tell together through the experience of two writers; to explore the power of images\, with the reading of an illustrated book\, and of words\, with the reading of a tale from popular tradition; to share stories and legends of the area. We will do this with Federica Ortolan\, a writer of narratives and illustrated books for children\, teenagers\, and adults\, and Anselmo Roveda\, a writer and scholar of literature and imagination\, a professor at ISIA in Urbino\, deputy director of “Andersen\,” a monthly magazine of literature and illustration for the world of childhood\, and director of “Cabirda\,” a review for Romance intercomprehension. The meeting is co-organized and funded by the Ottica Martini of Mel. On the occasion of the May of Books\, the municipal administration will gift a book to all the girls and boys in the nursery and kindergartens of the Municipality of Borgo Valbelluna\, a symbolic gesture to promote and encourage reading from early childhood. \n“The May of Books is increasingly shaping up to be a highly anticipated event within the cultural calendar of Borgo Valbelluna. It aims to be strongly focused on activities for girls and boys\, giving the opportunity to experience the spaces of the library also for laboratory and creative activities. The choice to include an exhibition\, albeit focused on the world of books\, within the library spaces\, moves in this direction of enjoying the spaces not only for lending and reading. Particularly significant are the meetings planned for the adult audience\, with the presence of the Wetlands publishing house\, which has acted as a voice often silenced of a Gazan woman and the meeting with Ortolan and Roveda\, influential voices in the world of the illustrated book and childhood narrative\, which concludes a path promoted for teachers of Borgo Valbelluna on these themes\,” informs the administration’s councilor for culture\, Chiara Scarton.

SUMMARY:Il classico che non muore. Rothko oltre il moderno
DESCRIPTION:A frontal conference held by two speakers who\, with the aid of audio-visual means\, engage in a discussion on the works of the artist Mark Rothko and the contemporaries belonging to the artistic movement of Colour Field Painting. \nThe conference on May 8\, 2026\, is titled The Classic That Never Dies: Rothko Beyond Modernism  and is the first of a series of meetings scheduled for this year. \nThe speakers\, Prof. Michele Tison and Dr. Prof. Renzo Barbazza\, will continue the discussion between linguistic interpretation and the neuro-sensory-perceptual-aesthetic interpretation of works of art. \nOn this occasion\, Prof. Tison will analyze the revolution of artists who\, at the end of the 1940s\, redefined abstraction through “Color Field Painting\,” focusing in particular on the figure of Mark Rothko. \nThe talk will be introduced by a critical framework based on Renzo Barbazza’s Atlas of the History of Artists’ Works. \nAn innovative neuro-scientific perspective will be proposed\, suggesting that chronologically distant works\, such as those of Caravaggio and Rothko\, can be connected if they activate the same nuclei of the Central Nervous System related to existential disturbance. \nAt the end of the conference\, there will be ample time for questions and contributions from the audience. \nAdmission to the conference is free.
